Don Lam

Chief Executive Officer and Founding Partner of VinaCapital Group

Under his leadership, VinaCapital has grown into one of Vietnam’s leading diversified investment and asset management groups, with nearly USD 4 billion in assets under management and deep expertise across a diverse range of asset classes, including private equity, public equities, technology, energy, hospitality, and real estate.

A strong advocate for sustainable development, Mr. Lam prioritizes investments that create long-term economic, social, and environmental value. VinaCapital is a founding member of the Institute for Circular Economy Development and the Strategic Advisory Council on Science, Technology & Innovation (SACSTI) under Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, supporting environmental sustainability, circular economy, and innovation initiatives.

Mr. Lam serves as Deputy Head of the Private Economic Development Research Board (Board IV under the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform). He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Strategic Advisory Group of the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCMC).

Additionally, Mr. Lam serves as Chairman of the Management Board of VinaCapital Foundation, established in 2006, which provides healthcare and education programs aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged children and women in Vietnam. The Foundation’s programs focus on women’s empowerment, gender equality, nutrition improvement, environmental protection, and poverty alleviation.

Prior to founding VinaCapital, Mr. Lam served as Deputy General Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers (Vietnam), where he oversaw corporate finance and management consulting activities across Southeast Asia. He holds degrees in Commerce and Political Science from the University of Toronto, an Honorary Doctorate in Business from RMIT University Vietnam, and is a member of Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada). He was awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal and has received multiple commendations from the Government for his contributions to sustainable community development.
