Investment Director, Listed Equity

Main duties:

Portfolio Management (75% – 90% of time)

  • Manage several VinaCapital Fund Management (VCFM)’s equity portfolios, including open-ended funds and segregated mandates.
  • Regularly review, analyze and make investment decisions to enhance performance of portfolios. Measure and report weekly key metrics for the assigned portfolios, including performance, trade actions, fund size and new investment ideas, etc.
  • Meet with the Investment Advisory Committee (IAC) regularly to discuss strategy, investment ideas, performance, and any outstanding issues regarding the assigned portfolios.
  • Leverage VCFM’s Research team for macroeconomic, market, industry and company analyses in making investment decisions; but must stand ready to conduct own research and analysis to make investment decisions where information may not be available from the Research team.
  • Develop relationships with corporates, brokers, potential investors and investment banks to explore, source and identify investment opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the operations team to reconcile NAV and prepare monthly and quarterly reports for investors.
  • Collaborate with the trading desk, operations team and compliance team to complete trade allocation, pre-trade procedures, post-trade procedures, and other paperwork required for sound management of the assigned portfolios.

Product and Business Development (10% – 15% of time)

  • Assist VCFM sales team in advising potential clients and closing new clients’ accounts; answer clients’ queries as necessary.
  • Provide investment and market updates to sales team as required to support sales efforts.
  • When requested, conduct research and analysis to support product development efforts. Propose product ideas to the team.


  • Bachelors’ degree with finance/economics background; Masters’ degree (preferred but not required)
  • Strong preference for candidates with CFA charter and/or Vietnam Fund Management Certificate
  • Minimum 10 years of investment management experience, including at least 5 years as a portfolio manager
  • Advanced financial analysis and financial modelling skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and articulate manner to investors and partners
  • Strong business sense; able and willing to support fundraising efforts
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and teamwork skills
  • High personal integrity; always putting clients first and doing what is right for the company.

  • Assigned mandates’ performance in 1st quartile of the peer groups
  • Good team collaboration and cross-functional collaboration through 360 degree assessment.
