Dr Choi is Chairman of the Hong Kong-based Sun Wah Group, the Toronto-listed Sunwah International Limited and the Hong Kong-listed Sunwah Kingsway Capital Group. Under Dr Choi’s leadership, Sun Wah Group, established in 1957, has transformed into a diversified conglomerate with subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, Southeast Asia, Canada, the US and Australia. Sun Wah Group has invested in Vietnam for more than 40 years, starting with the seafood business and expanding into real estate and finance. Dr Choi holds many positions, including Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of the PRC, Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Standing Committee Member of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, council member of The Preparatory Task Force for the Economic Development Commission of HKGSAR, Chairman of the China-India Software Association, Chairman of the Hong Kong – Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, council member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Chairman of the Hong Kong–Japan Business Co-operation Committee, and Independent Non-executive Director of Bank of China Hong Kong.
Terence F. Mahony
Mr Mahony is a recognised leader and pioneer in emerging market investing, with an extensive global financial career spanning over 40 years. Mr Mahony first worked with the Bank of London and South America in London and Zurich, followed by broking positions at White Weld and Paine Webber. His fund management experience began in Boston with the highly successful Baring Puma Latin American Fund which he launched in 1991 for Barings as Director and CIO for Latin America. After Barings, he returned to Hong Kong and became the first CIO of HSBC’s new global emerging markets strategy. At HSBC Mr Mahony built a team from scratch and launched the bank’s first Global Emerging Markets Fund. From 1996 to 1999 he was Managing Director for Emerging Markets Equities, CIO of Global Emerging Markets Equity Strategy and President of Trust Company of the West (TCW) Asia Limited. From 2000 to 2008, he was a director and member of the investment committee of Investment Manager Selection (IMS) Limited in London. In 2008, Mr Mahony served as interim CIO for Indochina Capital, having served on its board. Mr Mahony is based in Hong Kong and serves on the boards of various investment funds as a non-executive director.

Don Lam, a founding partner of VinaCapital, has worked in Vietnam for more than two decades. He has overseen VinaCapital’s growth from manager of a single USD10 million fund in 2003 into a leading investment management firm in Southeast Asia with a diversified portfolio of more than USD3 billion in assets under management. Additionally, Mr Lam established the VinaCapital Foundation whose mission is to empower the children and youth of Vietnam by providing opportunities for growth through health and education programs.
In addition to his role at VinaCapital, Mr Lam serves on the Steering Board of the World Economic Forum’s ASEAN Regional Business Council and is a frequent speaker at international investment conferences and in the media. Before founding VinaCapital, Mr Lam was a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Vietnam), where he led the corporate finance and management consulting practices throughout the Indochina region. He has a degree in Commerce and Political Science from the University of Toronto and is the recipient of an honorary doctorate in business from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Mr Lam is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Canada and is a Certified Public Accountant and holder of a Securities License in Vietnam.
Michael Choi is CEO and Executive Director of SW Kingsway Capital Holdings Limited, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Mr Choi has extensive experience in capital and property market activities including fund management, corporate and property mortgage, real estate development and property investment prior to joining the Group in 1995. He is also an Executive Director of Sunwah International Limited, a Toronto listed company and a substantial shareholder of SW Kingsway, and a Director of Sunwah Group, a Hong Kong-based international conglomerate. Mr Choi holds various public positions, including member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of the Hubei Province and Zhaoqing Province, PRC, and committee member of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce. Mr Choi has a bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER — ASSET MANAGEMENT AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Brook Taylor is the Chief Executive Officer – Asset Management of VinaCapital. Mr Taylor has lived and worked in Vietnam since 1997, and has more than 20 years of management experience, including more than eight years as a senior partner with major accounting firms. Previously, he was deputy managing partner of Deloitte in Vietnam and head of the firm’s audit practice. He was also managing partner of Arthur Andersen Vietnam and a senior audit partner at KPMG. Mr Taylor’s expertise spans a broad range of management and finance areas including accounting, business planning, audit, corporate finance, taxation, and risk management. He holds an Executive MBA from INSEAD and a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University of Wellington.
Katherine Yip is a co-founder of VinaCapital. She also founded Sanrio Digital, a global partner of Sanrio Japan working with well-known brands including Hello Kitty. Ms Yip currently partners with a number of companies including Outblaze, a technology company whose messaging division was sold to IBM in 2009; TurnOut, a strategic joint venture for Asia with Time Warner/Turner Broadcasting; Typhoon Games, the global developer publisher and distributor of PC games such as Football Manager, Winning and YS Seven; and, Touchmedia, a taxi media company that is the market leader in China. Ms Yip has over 20 years of capital markets experience, founding investment companies, taking companies public, management buy-outs and mergers and acquisitions. She was educated at Harvard Business School.
